The President signed the Ratification of the Protocol to the Convention 29 of the International Labor Organization on Concerning Forced or Compulsory Labour, 1930 Bill into Law,” the Justice Ministry said.
The Protocol was adopted on June 11, 2014 in Geneva.
The Convention itself was ratified by the resolution of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on August 30, 1997.
The ILO Convention provides that the national policies of the states that adopted the document prohibits forced or Compulsory labor.
Under the convention, the definition “forced or compulsory labor” means any work or service required from any person under threat of any punishment and for which this person did not voluntarily offer their services.
