Gulnara Karimova’s daughter and the granddaughter of the late president Karimov, Iman Karimova published a letter on her Instagram page, which was addressed to the Chairman of the State Security Service and the General Prosecutor.
The letter says that Gulnara Karimova is denied the necessary medical treatment and that she is under under constant psychological pressure by the prison staff.
“Despite her poor health, the prison staff, namely, the head of the colony, instructed by the staff of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan, more precisely, A.A., 4 times by 40 minutes inflict psychological and physical pressure on G. Karimova under 40 0C, in spite of her high pressure, hypertensive crisis, 2 polyps, varicose veins and daily bleeding ”, the letter says.
“I want to like to ask to make sure that such treatment cease and a long-awaited understanding, which was violated by prosecutors, is reached”, the letter says.
Earlier on June 14, the spokeswoman to the Prosecutor General’s Office, Surayo Rakhmanova, during a briefing, said that the Prosecutor General’s Office was working to return Gulnara Karimova’s assets to Uzbekistan.
She also said that the daughter of the former president of Uzbekistan is serving a sentence in accordance with the law.
“Her condition is satisfactory. Gulnara Karimova has full access to the necessary medical treatment,” said Surayo Rakhmanova.
In the end of May, the Swiss lawyer of Gulnara Karimova, Grégoire Mangeat in his Twitter page expressed concern that Karimova was being denied medical treatment and that she had been taken out of the prison’s medical block right after his last visit to her. He added that she was further denied access to doctors she was under constant psychological pressure.
