President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today hosted the co-chair of the Uzbek-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation/Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Oreshkin, the presidential press service said.

Last year, the two-way trade increased by 20% to reach US$ 6 billion. Energy, oil and gas, chemical, engineering, electrical, textile and food processing projects are being implemented with the participation of Russian companies and banks.

The new multi-level dialogue format, the joint commission on cooperation at the level of prime ministers is expected to enhance the effectiveness of the implementation of agreements to expand the partnership.

Among the promising areas of cooperation are the creation in the provinces of Uzbekistan of agroclusters and logistics centers with the participation of Russian companies, the launch of a new mechanism for large-scale supplies of Uzbek fruits and vegetables to the Russian market.

The Russian side expressed its readiness to take the necessary steps to increase the volume and expand the range of bilateral trade, to implement joint promising projects in various sectors.
