The Uzbek-born Russian billionaire, the founder of USM Holdings, Alisher Usmanov, donated US$ 50 million for the programs Obod Qishloq (transl. Improved Village) and Obod Mahalla” (“Improved Mahalla”) programs.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke about this during a meeting in Namangan attended by the officials of local authorities, heads of ministries and departments, businessmen and youth.
“As part of the Obod Qishloq and Obod Mahalla programs, Alisher Usmanov made a proposal: “If you allow me, Mr. President, I want to contribute US$ 50 million for the Obod Qishloq program in Namangan province. What do you say? I said that we will distribute this money among all districts, 20-25 billion soums for each. I will say openly that this money is already in Tashkent,”said the head of state in a story by the Uzbekistan 24.
The President proposed to open an international business center and a business school named after Alisher Usmanov in Namangan.
