The twelfth edition of Sharq Taronalari music festival will be held August 26-30, 2019 in Samarkand. The festival will feature scientific-practical conference entitled Prospects for development of traditional musical art of the peoples of the East, with the participation of prominent local and foreign scholars of musicology and professionals, as well as researchers with their reports.
The President instructed the PM Abdulla Aripov to develop and approve a Road Map for the festival, and to approve cost estimate related to preparing and holding of the festival before April 1, 2019.
Sharq Taronalari is an international festival of folk and ethnic music held every two years since 1997, in the heart of the ancient Samarkand– on the Registan square. Sharq Taronalari aims to bring together and promote a variety of folk and traditional areas of music of the world. Ethnic holiday is held with the support of UNESCO, aims to preserve and revitalize our national values, as well as the development of music in Uzbekistan. The official purpose of the holiday is to promote and preserve the national musical art.
The last year’s edition was won Sahib Pashazade from Azerbaijan. Then more than 240 musicians and artists from 59 countries of the world took part in the event.
