Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) on 27 December 2016 signed a Record of Discussions with the Academy of Public Administration (APA) under the President of Uzbekistan for the implementation of KOICA’s project entitled “Academy of Public Administration Capacity Building Project for Public Sector Innovation in Uzbekistan”.
According to KOICA, the project will be implemented in 2017-2019. The project cost is $3 million.
The project aims to provide policy consulting on personnel management and training system for public officials in Uzbekistan, strengthen the educational capacity of the APA, and further strengthen the capacity of Uzbek public officials including the students, faculty, and staff of the APA.
Within this new project, KOICA and the APA will develop a Master Plan for personnel training system for public officials in Uzbekistan and hold Human Resource Development (HRD) Conferences with the aim of fostering innovation in the public sector. KOICA and the APA will utilize Business Reengineering Process and propose new curriculums, new teaching methodologies, training workshops for faculty and staff, and enhanced web-based learning environments. Furthermore, KOICA, in cooperation with the APA, will provide customized training courses in Korea for the students, faculty, and staff of the APA.
Im Jeong Hee, Director of KOICA Uzbekistan Office, expressed hope that this project will contribute to the capacity building of public officials in Uzbekistan and thereby promote public sector innovation in the country.
