“All-round cooperation with foreign partners in the field of defense is expanding. Strategic partnership ties are being established and maintained with interested countries based on Uzbekistan’s long-term national security interests and ensuring stability in the region,” the Uzbek Minister of Defense, Major General Bahodir Kurbanov said at the Central and South Asia Chiefs of Defense Conference of in Tashkent.
According to him, cooperation in the field of security with the countries of the region and partner countries has “gained an upward trend.”
"We are ready and intend to comprehensively advance partnerships with all countries in order to maintain peace, first and foremost - to ensure tranquility in Afghanistan," the minister said.
He stressed that Uzbekistan pursues a peace-loving policy course, the main objectives of which are the protection of sovereignty, territorial integrity and the constitutional order, ensuring military security and most importantly strengthening international and regional cooperation.
“In this regard, we are carrying out large-scale works to strengthen mutual understanding and constructive dialogue with all countries of Central and South Asia to prevent and fight external and internal threats to peace, stability and security in the region,” said Kurbanov.
