Tashkent Metallurgical Plant (TMP) will be commissioned in December 2019, the company said in a statement. MetProm group of companies has been selected as the general contractor for the 286 million euros project.
The main equipment is supplied by the Italian company Danieli.
"When preparing the feasibility study, the local demand for steel metal products was studied. Therefore, the plant's design capacity of 500 thousand tons of cold-rolled metal per year will fully satisfy the demand in the country," he said.
Production will reach full capacity within two years, with the planned exports at 20% of total output.
In general, the launch of the plant will facilitate the development of related industries, such as the construction sector, automotive and household appliances industries.
the construction project is handled by the foreign company SFI Management Group, which also manages the state’s share in other flagships of Uzbekistan’s industry, the Almalyk MMC and Uzmetkombinat.
