Ikhtiyor Abdullaev left the post of the chairman of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan due to health reasons, a source in the government told The Tashkent Times.
Ikhtiyor Abdullaev, 52, headed the State Security Service since January 31, 2018. Before, since 2015, he worked as the Prosecutor General and as of 2009 – as the presidential adviser.
Lieutenant-General Abdusalom Azizov, 58, has been appointed as the chairman of the State Security Service and subsequently left the Defense Minister job. He headed the Ministry of Defense since September 2017.
Bakhodir Qurbonov, who commanded the Tashkent military district, has become the new defense minister.
Major-General Bakhodir Qurbonov since February 2018 served as deputy defense minister,/commander of the Tashkent military district, which covers Tashkent city, Tashkent and Syrdarya provinces. Earlier, from December 2015, he had served as chief of the Tashkent police department.
