President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Approval of the Concept of Holding of Population Census in 2022 in Uzbekistan Decree Tuesday. The last census in Uzbekistan was held in 1989.
The decree said that census would conduct an accurate count of the population and compile detailed information about gender, age, marital status, level of education, employment, ethnic origin, nationality, and other demographic and socio-economic parameters.
The decree has also formed the national commission to assist in holding the census.
The commission shall coordinate the interaction between the authorized census body and other government bodies and the state-owned companies, local authorities and shall monitor the preparation and holding of the census.
The President also ordered to the draft Census Bill before July 1, which will establish the procedure, timelines and dates for the census.
