By 2021, Uzbekistan intends to increase agricultural exports up to US$ 5 billion, the Foreign Trade Minister Jamshid Khodjayev speaking at the Global Forum for Food and Agriculture in Berlin.
“Since 2000, Uzbekistan’s agriculture has been steadily growing at an annual rate of 6.6% (?!), which is much higher than the world average of 2.8%. In addition, by 2021 it is planned to increase the exports of agricultural products to US$ 5 billion” - said the minister.
The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture (GFFA) is an international conference that focuses on central questions concerning the future of the global agri-food industry. It gives representatives from the worlds of politics, business, science and civil society an opportunity to share ideas and enhance understanding on a selected topic of current agricultural policy.
An official opening of the Uzbekistan stand took place on January 18, where agricultural, horticultural and alcoholic products of Uzbekistan, as well as the national cuisine and tourist potential were presented.
In addition, the Uzbekistan delegation of held talks with the Minister of Agriculture of Germany, Julia Klöckner.
Note: In 2018, Uzbekistan exported US$ 1 billion dollars of food products (an increase by 25.3%), with the CIS countries accounting for 730 million dollars.
