Open Skies policy is set to be introduced at Nukus airport, to take effect from the beginning of the IATA (International Air Transport Association) Summer-2019 season schedule to the end of the IATA Winter-2021/2022 season, the Uzbek Flight Safety Supervisory Authority said.
According to this policy, foreign airlines, designated by the intergovernmental accords on air traffic, are entitled to fly to Nukus airport without limit on frequency.
"Flights should be operated within the framework of the said agreements without the right for 5th freedom flights and subject to the technical capabilities of the Nukus airport," the authority said.
The relevant notifications have been sent to the aviation authorities of foreign countries that have entered into international treaties with the Republic of Uzbekistan in the field of air traffic through diplomatic channels.
