Uzbekistan Railways plans to buy five set of cars for the Tashkent aerial metro line. The President's Draft Purchasing Rolling stock for Tashkent Aerial Metro Line Project Decree has been posted on the portal for assessing the impact of regulations.
In line with the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan No. PP-2979 of May 19, 2017, the project “Construction of the Aerial Metro Line in the City of Tashkent” is to be completed in 2021 by Uzbekistan Railways. Following the direct negotiations with JSC MetroVagonMash (Russia) the parties agreed on a Memorandum for purchase of five set of cars in four-car version, consisting of two head motor cars, one intermediate motored and one intermediate motorless car.
The total cost of the 4 sets is 27.7 million euros. The contract will be financed by a loan from the Russian Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs of 22.14 million euros and funds from Uzbekistan Fund for Reconstruction and Development of 5.54 million euros.
