Deputies of the lower house of parliament considered several draft bills on Uzbekistan’s joining to the major international copyright protection treaties.

Deputies discussed in detail the draft bills Uzbekistan’s accession to the Convention for the Protection of Producers of Phonograms Against the Illegal Reproduction of their Phonograms (Geneva, October 29, 1971), Uzbekistan’s Accession to the World Intellectual Property Organization on copyright treaty” (Geneva, December 20, 1996) and Uzbekistan’s Accession to the Treaty of the World Intellectual Property Organization on Performances and Phonograms (Geneva, December 20, 1996).

“These bills were developed in pursuance of the provisions of the joint statement of the heads of states during the official visit of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the USA on May 15-17, 2018,” lower house of the parliament noted.

Accession to these treaties and conventions will be the evidence of Uzbekistan's intention to comply with requirements in the field of copyright and related intellectual property rights.
