The Ministry of Emergency Situations has prepared the draft of the so-called Hydrometeorological Authority’s Innovative Development Concept for 2019-2025.
It provides:
- modernization of the infrastructure of hydrometeorological observations and monitoring of environmental pollution through the automation of observation networks, communication systems and the introduction of ICTs;
- strengthening of forecast - meteorological, hydrological, agrometeorological, climatic, aeronautical meteorological tools and the capacity of early warning systems for hydrometeorological hazards;
- development of software products for weather-dependent industries and public;
- support for innovative research aimed at improving monitoring methods and forecasts;
- enhancing the skills of staff;
- strengthening regional and international cooperation.
It is planned to develop early warning systems for hydrometeorological hazards - mudflows, floods and droughts - based on remote sensing data, which will help identify threats in advance and notify public authorities, weather-dependent sectors of the economy and the public.
