Headwall Power International will invest US$ 1.2 billion in renewable energy in the Surkhandarya province, the Surkhandarya governor’s office said.

The project reportedly provides for the installation of up to 1 GW total capacity solar panels in Kyzyrik district. In phase I, solar panels will be installed in 490 houses in Bandihon area as an experiment.

Earlier it was reported that SkyPower Global would build 1000 MW of utility-scale solar energy facilities worth of US$1.3 billion in Uzbekistan’s four provinces, while the construction of another solar photovoltaic plant in Samarkand province was suspended due to the reported need to review the project feasibility study.
