Tashkent city deputies council took a decision Tuesday to rename Yakkachinor street in downtown Tashkent to Yakub Kolas street, a prominent Belarusian poet and public figure.

After occupation of Belarus in the World War II in 1941, he was evacuated with his family to Tashkent, where he lived through 1944 when Belarus was liberated.

Earlier, Kolas’ bust was inaugurated in the Uzbek capital. Belarusian President Lukashenko is arriving today in Tashkent on an official visit.
