On December 14 the joint session of the Oliy Majlis, dedicated to the inauguration ceremony of the President of Uzbekistan, opened in Tashkent.
The ceremony was attended by the government members, heads of ministries and agencies, the members of the Central Election Commission, heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations, local and foreign mass media, a statement of the presidential press service said.
The session was opened by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov. He underscored that following the December 4 Uzbekistan Presidential elections the candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev won 88.61% of votes.
The Chairman Abdusalomov, on behalf of the session participants and all people in the country, congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his election as the Head of State and handed him the Certificate of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the testimony of the CEC.
In accordance with Article 92 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev President took the oath of office:
"I solemnly swear to faithfully serve the people of Uzbekistan, to strictly follow the Constitution and the laws of the Republic, to guarantee the rights and freedoms of citizens and to conscientiously fulfill the duties of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan".
At the present time the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev is delivering a speech at the ceremony.
