UzLiDeP’s Political Council at its Dec 12 meeting decided to propose to the President for consideration Abdulla Aripov's candidacy for the post of Prime Minister, the party’s press service announced.
At the meeting it was emphasized that Abdullah Aripov is a dedicated, proactive and demanding executive, who is also a pro-modern and patriotic man. Aripov has extensive experience and the required qualities to serve as a high executive at any level and is capable to fully assume the responsibility for successful implementation of reforms in the country.
According to the Constitution, the proposal for Prime Minister is submitted to the President by the political party that has the most seats in the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis.
In September by the decree of the Acting President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Abdulla Aripov (55 years old) was appointed as Deputy Prime Minister. In the government, he oversees the Complex on youth policy, culture, information systems and telecommunications.
Earlier, Abdulla Aripov also served as the Deputy Prime Minister (for over 10 years) - from May 2002 to August of 2012.
