The Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan signed the Military Cooperation Plan for 2018 Tuesday, the Uzbek Defense Ministry said.
The plan was signed during the visit of the Tajikistan delegation led by the Minister of Defense Sherali Mirzo. In Tashkent, the delegation met with the Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan Abdusalom Azizov.
The two ministers discussed the ways to expand the Uzbek-Tajik cooperation in the defense sphere and the enhancing ties in the military-technical area.
"The Armed Forces of Uzbekistan are the strongest and well-equipped in the region. The Uzbekistan servicemen have good facilities for preparing training and combat tasks," the Tajik Defense Minister said at the meeting. Sherali Mirzo invited the Uzbek military to take part in drills in hard-to-reach mountaneous areas.
Training in tank biathlon was demonstrated to the delegation of Tajikistan at the Chirchik base in the Tashkent province.
