President Mirziyoyev signed a decree Wednesday creating the Center of People's Diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Uzbekistan as a non-governmental non-profit organization.
The co-founders are the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers, the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Culture, Higher and Secondary Special Education and Sports, the Committee for Tourism Development, the Academy of Sciences and Arts, the unions of Youth, journalists and writers.
The tasks of the center:
- contributing to strengthening of mutual trust and good-neighborliness, interethnic and inter-religious harmony, development of inter-civilization dialogue among the SCO countries;
- participation in the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties with the SCO countries;
- Facilitating the establishment of a friendly relations between the civil society institutions, including youth and women's organizations of the SCO countries;
- assistance in the development of cooperation between the SCO countries in the information sphere, creating of information resources and interaction with the media;
- using instruments of people's diplomacy with an aim to bring the SCO countries and their peoples closer, strengthening the spirit of mutual trust and good-neighborliness.
The center will be located at: Tashkent, Yakkasaray district, Babur str., 45.
