President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is expected to visit the French Republic this year, a source in the Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry said. The visit is said to take place in summer, however, details of the visit were not disclosed.
We're currently making preparations for the visit. The visit is a done deal and so we can talk about it now, the source added.
In September 2017, the French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Uzbekistan’s Independence Day and invited him to Paris.
There have been only three visits by the heads of the two states. The late President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov visited France for the first time in 1993 and later in 1996. While, the French President François Mitterrand visited Uzbekistan only once in 1994 on a state visit.
