Fakhriddin Tillyaev, charged in 2014 for 10 years 8 months of imprisonment by the Shaykhantahur district criminal court for the crime under article 135 (Human Trafficking) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, was released Saturday, the press service of the Supreme Court said.

On May 11, 2018 the Judicial Board for criminal cases of the Supreme Court amended the ruling of the Shaykhantahur district criminal court.

Fakhriddin Tillyaev and Nuriddin Jumaniyazov (who died in prison of complications related to diabetes on December 31, 2016) were sentenced on trumped up charges in retaliation for organizing an independent labor union.

Tillyaev, 47, is one of several people whom activists consider political prisoners who have been freed from prison since President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took office.
