The initiative of the Tashkent authorities to dismantle fences around the buildings of the central office of the Uzbek Defense Ministry, the Tashkent Military District and the Air Defense and the Air Force Command and the State Museum of the Armed has been approved and now the fences are being removed, Daryo.uz reported.

The mayor’s office noted that this decision was based on the study of the experience of the developed countries.

Vast majority of buildings of government bodies, universities, schools in Uzbekistan have 3 to 3.5 meter fences around them and their gradual removal will certainly give a friendlier look to these buildings, make them closer, more aproachable to the public. Recently the fences surrounding the Tashkent University of Diplomacy and some other government buildings were also removed.
