President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, who arrived in Tashkent to attend the conference on Afghanistan "Peace Process, Security Cooperation and Regional Collarobation", the Uzbek President's press service said.
The two leaders reportedly discussed the ways to develop bilateral ties and the implementation of projects in the trade, transport-energy, education, health and other areas, also touching upon the topical issues of the regional and international agenda.
President Ghani expressed his sincere gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his efforts in practical implementation of the joint Uzbek-Afghan initiative to hold the Tashkent conference on Afghanistan. He also confirmed his readiness to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
