President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday spoke over the phone with the President of the Republic of Korea, Moon Jae-In, the Uzbek President’s press service said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated President Moon Jae-In on his birthday, especially noting his important role and huge personal contribution to advancing of friendship and strategic partnership ties, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.
Moon Jae-In expressed gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for warm congratulations and wishes, noted that in Mirziyoyev the Korean leader has found "a likeminded person, a friend and supporter of comprehensive strengthening of Uzbek-Korean cooperation". The Republic of Korea leader also highly commended the first ever address of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Parliament.
The two leaders discussed in detail the ways to further expand the Uzbek-Korean ties, exchanged views on the topical issues on the international and regional agenda.
Particular attention was paid to the active engaging of advanced Korean experience, knowledge and technologies in the modernization of Uzbekistan’s industry and infrastructure, development of the social sector.
Moon Jae-In sincerely congratulated the people of Uzbekistan over the impressive spell and advancing to the final in the AFC U23 Championships in China.
In turn, the President of Uzbekistan wholeheartedly wished the leadership and the people of the Republic of Korea a successful holding of the Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang.
In conclusion, the heads of state reiterated their "decisive spirit to comprehensively develop and strengthen the centuries-old friendship and close partnership ties between the two countries and peoples."
