Agreement on visa-free regime with Tajikistan is expected to be signed during the visit of the Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s to Tajikistan, the chairman of Tourism development committee Aziz Abdukhakimov at a press conference on Monday. According to him, the agreement was reached during the visit to Tajikistan of the Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov.
"I think this is a very serious decision to take, which will arouse great interest among the people of the two countries- firstly, in terms of reciprocal trips to relatives, and secondly, it's tourism. We are expecting a minimum of 150-200 thousand tourists from Tajikistan," Abdukhakimov said.
It is planned to introduce a visa regime similar to other CIS countries, except Turkmenistan, a source in the Committee for Tourism said.
"Full details of the accord will be clarified during the official visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, with many issues to be settled – logistics, border checkpoints: their location, border crossing procedures and others, " he concluded.
