President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will travel to Azerbaijan on October 14-15 to take part in the seventh summit of the Council on Cooperation and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku, at the invitation of President Ilham Aliyev.

The forum, chaired by Azerbaijan, will address strengthening trust, peace and security on the Asian continent, as well as the further institutional development of the Council.

Participants will discuss expanding practical cooperation in transport connectivity, digitalisation, sustainable economic growth and other priority areas. They will also exchange views on issues of regional and international significance.

The summit is expected to adopt the Baku Declaration and a package of decisions aimed at enhancing the role and effectiveness of the organisation.

On the sidelines, Mirziyoyev will hold a series of bilateral meetings with the heads of foreign delegations.

CICA is an international forum aimed at strengthening cooperation in Asia and ensuring peace, security and stability. The Council currently brings together 28 states, accounting for roughly 90% of the continent’s territory and population.
