A court ordered Andijan city mayor Dilmurod Rahmatullaev to pay 30 minimum wages (MW), 5.167 million soums (US$ 638) for insulting heads of educational institutions with obscene words on October 16 during the Andijan city authorities meeting, the General Prosecutor's Office said in a statement.

The court found the mayor Rahmatullaev guilty of committing an administrative offense under Article 41 (Insulting, that is, deliberate humiliation of honor and dignity of a person) of the Administrative Liability Code. Punishment for this offense is from 20 to 40 MWs.

The Andijan province prosecutor's office conducted a probe against the mayor, who is also the chairman of the Andijan city deputies council. The office obtained consent from the  council to bring D. Rakhmatullayev to justice.
