66 out of 133 patrol and road posts (checkpoints) in Uzbekistan’s highways linking provinces will be liquidated, the Interior Minister Pulat Bobodjonov told UzA.
Last Friday, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev pointed to the need to remove posts, saying that these posts have restricted the free movement of people and had a negative impact on trade-economic activity, and internal and external tourism.
Minister Bobodjonov noted, 60 posts out of a total are road posts and 73 are stationary patrol posts. Submitted provisional expert opinion has concluded on liquidation of 66 posts.
