As Uzbekistan marks the 35th anniversary of its independence, residents across the country will get three to four consecutive days off.
Under a presidential decree, Monday, August 31, 2026, has been designated an additional non-working day for all employees, regardless of their standard work-week schedule.
As a result, those on a five-day work week will have four consecutive days off around Independence Day, from August 29 to September 1, while those on a six-day work week will get three consecutive days off, from August 30 to September 1.
The holiday schedule breaks down as follows:
- Saturday, August 29 — a regular working day or day off, depending on individual work schedules
- Sunday, August 30 — a standard day off
- Monday, August 31 — an additional day off for everyone
- Tuesday, September 1 — Independence Day
- Wednesday, September 2 — a regular working day for all
