A minor has been apprehended in Tashkent after allegedly stealing 6.18 million soums from a shop register, the Tashkent City Police Department said.
Authorities reported that the young man managed to slip inside the store through a narrow gap in the door and emptied the cash register. Security personnel on night patrol noticed the suspect’s suspicious behavior and detained him at the scene before he could escape. The officers immediately notified the police dispatch unit.
During the investigation, the full amount of stolen cash was recovered and returned to the shop owner.
The incident exposed security gaps in the area. Investigators discovered that neither the targeted shop nor several neighboring commercial outlets were connected to a centralized security monitoring system. In response, police conducted crime-prevention briefings with local business owners, urging them to upgrade their security measures. Following the outreach, the burglarized business and neighboring shops signed service contracts with the security department.
The officers responsible for catching the suspect and solving the case have been officially commended and rewarded by the leadership of the internal affairs organs.
