President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been presented with a comprehensive strategic roadmap aimed at expanding Uzbekistan's livestock and poultry sectors, boosting domestic meat and dairy production, and integrating modern agricultural technologies.
A central element of the briefing focused on expanding the country's livestock inventory through high-yield genetic imports. Under the proposed plan, Uzbekistan intends to import 150,000 sheep from Mongolia, 100,000 pedigree cattle from China and European nations, and an additional 2,000 breeding cattle from Belarus. Officials project these acquisitions will increase domestic meat production by 44,000 tons annually.
The broader development strategy allocates $463 million to fund livestock initiatives between 2026 and 2028. The capital injection will support reviving defunct livestock operations, building modular, lightweight barns for smallholder households, and advancing selective breeding programs. Additionally, the government will deploy the "Smart Fermer" digital platform to optimize nationwide supply chain and farm management efficiency.
President Mirziyoyev directed economic officials to conduct rigorous cost-benefit analyses on all proposed projects and establish strict digital monitoring mechanisms for fund allocation. He emphasized that the ultimate objective of the multi-million dollar modernization push must be ensuring a stable, accessible, and high-quality supply of meat and dairy products for the domestic market.
