A court in Surkhandarya province has sentenced a police officer to 15 years and 1 month in prison for raping a minor, the press service of the provincial courts.
Officials confirmed that the criminal investigation into the juvenile inspector-psychologist of the Denau District Police Department has concluded. Reports indicate that the man drove a 15-year-old girl to a school in his vehicle and raped her inside one of the classrooms.
The case was subsequently forwarded to the relevant court for trial. The prosecutor's office had previously clarified that early claims dismissing the allegations against the officer were false, affirming that the perpetrator would face justice.
On July 22, 2026, the Denau District Criminal Court found the man guilty under Article 118, Part 4 (Rape) and Article 206, Part 1 (Abuse of Power or Official Authority) of the Criminal Code. The court sentenced him to 15 years and 1 month in a general-regime penal colony. Additionally, he is barred from working within internal affairs agencies for two years.
This case mirrors a similar incident in Andijan province, where an inspector and a social worker from the Police Department’s Center for Socio-Legal Assistance to Minors are currently suspected of having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl.
