MPs passed a bill introducing amendments and additions to the Labor Code in its first reading. The bill aims to align national legislation with the provisions of International Labour Organization (ILO) Convention No. 111, which Uzbekistan has ratified. Specifically, the definitions of discrimination in the sphere of labor and employment within the Labor Code are being expanded to include "skin color" and "political views."
Furthermore, special emphasis is placed on implementing legal mechanisms to protect human honor and dignity in workplace relationships and to prevent sexual harassment. This includes a proposed new provision in the Labor Code explicitly prohibiting sexual harassment in labor and employment.
