A man who sexually harassed a woman inside a public bus in Tashkent has been sentenced to administrative arrest.

According to court documents, on the morning of June 23, the 50-year-old man, identified as T.S., boarded the No. 93 bus route. Once inside, he sat next to a woman and committed an act of sexual harassment by exposing his genitals to her. Terrified, the woman screamed and called out to the driver for help. The man attempted to flee the bus, but the driver did not open the doors.

In court, T.S. pled guilty. He claimed he was heavily intoxicated and could not remember committing the lewd acts, stating he only began to realize what happened after being brought to the police station.

The victim provided the following testimony:

"On June 23, at around 7:45 a.m., an unfamiliar man boarded the bus, sat next to me, and touched my hand. I immediately moved further away to distance myself from him. Then, T.S. exposed his genitals. Terrified, I screamed and shouted for the driver's help. T.S. tried to escape and get off the bus, but the driver kept the doors closed. T.S. then began shouting profanities at the driver and tried to force the doors open himself, but he could not escape. Shortly after, the police arrived at the scene."

The woman requested the court to take strict legal action against the perpetrator.

By ruling of the Bektemir District Criminal Court, T.S. was found guilty of offenses under Part 1 of Article 41-1 (Sexual Harassment), Article 183 (Petty Criminal Damage), and Part 1 of Article 194 (Failure to Comply with the Lawful Demands of a Police Officer) of the Code of Administrative Responsibility. He was sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention.

This follows a recent similar incident in Tashkent, where a doctor was sentenced to 5 days in jail for harassing female student interns.
