In Uzun district of Surkhandarya province, a late-night street race between two acquaintances—aged 17 and 20, neither of whom possessed a driver's license—ended in a fatal car crash involving a Damas min-van and a Nexia sedan. The tragedy resulted in the deaths of two people: the underage driver and a passenger in the opposing vehicle.

The incident occurred on May 28 at around 11:50 PM within the territory of the Chaqar neighborhood block.

According to the Traffic Safety Service, the Damas was operated by a youth born in 2009 who had not yet reached the legal driving age. In addition to the driver, four of his teenage peers were riding inside the van.

The individual behind the wheel of the Nexia was their acquaintance, 20, who also did not have a valid driver's license.

The collision occurred while both vehicles were speeding side-by-side in a competitive race along the same direction of travel. As a result of the impact, the 17-year-old Damas driver and a passenger in the Nexia died from their injuries. The remaining occupants sustained various degrees of bodily trauma and were rushed to the hospital.
