The government of Uzbekistan has officially approved a new regulation establishing a special tax status for foreign nationals, providing a formal application process for expatriates seeking specialized fiscal benefits.
Under the newly finalized framework, eligible foreign citizens can apply for the status digitally via the Single Interactive Governmental Services Portal (my.gov.uz) or the Electronic Tax Services Portal. Applications are also accepted in person at any municipal Governmental Services Center. To qualify, applicants must submit a copy of their foreign passport alongside valid documentation verifying their legal residency or visa status within the country.
The review mechanism is structured to ensure rapid processing. The Special Tax Status Committee, operating under the national Tax Committee, will evaluate submissions and deliver a formal decision notification within just one business day.
Upon receiving an official approval notice, applicants must open an account with an authorized domestic commercial bank or set up a recognized local crypto wallet to clear the final financial requirement: a mandatory special processing fee of $50,000.
The specialized status extends beyond the primary applicant to cover adult immediate family members. According to the government directive, the tax regime remains valid for the specific tax period requested in the initial application, capping out at a maximum duration of five years.
