Manchester City has added another trophy to its collection. And manager Pep Guardiola has once again proven that his era is far from over. However, behind the dazzling victory celebration, another bitter scene unfolded. This time, it involved Uzbekistan national team defender Abdukodir Khusanov.
Manchester City defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the 2025-2026 season FA Cup final held at Wembley Stadium in London, England, on the 17th (Korean time). Having already secured the League Cup, Manchester City completed a domestic double by lifting the FA Cup as well.
The issue arose during the victory ceremony. Controversy resurfaced. As Manchester City players received their medals, the broadcast camera abruptly switched away when it was Khusanov’s turn—a scenario that did not occur for other players.
Khusanov had faced a similar situation during the League Cup victory in March. This repetition has led to skepticism that it was not a mere coincidence.
The British football community has witnessed similar controversies involving Asian players in the past. Park Ji-sung, Ki Sung-yueng, Ji So-yun, and Japanese players Shinji Okazaki, Takuya Minamino, and Wataru Endo also experienced camera cuts during victory ceremonies on multiple occasions.
While Manchester City lifted the trophy at Wembley, the scene surrounding Khusanov left another uncomfortable debate.
