A flash flood in Kashkadarya province has claimed the life of one person, Hayot Shamsutdinov, the spokesman to the Prosecutor General's Office said. The incident occurred in Dehkanabad district. On May 19, at 8:20 PM, the district police department's dispatch unit received a report that the body of an unidentified man had washed down a river along with floodwaters in the Qurilish village's Yangi Hayot neighborhood. A investigative and operational team, led by the district prosecutor, immediately arrived at the scene.
the preliminary inquiry identified the deceased as O.Sh., 25.
According to the young man's relatives, O.Sh. had left the house at around 3:00 PM on May 19 to herd his sheep. When he failed to return by 6:00 PM, heavy rains had already struck the village, triggering a severe flash flood. Shortly afterward, his body was discovered drifting in the water.
The district prosecutor's office is currently conducting a pre-investigation inquiry into the incident.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, heavy rainfall was recorded across the Kamashi, Yakkabog, Dehkanabad, and Shahrisabz districts of the Kashkadarya province on May 19. The resulting flash floods forced the temporary closure of a local road in Kamashi and a bridge in Yakkabog.
