Today, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted a high-level Austrian government delegation led by the Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, Beate Meinl-Reisinger and the Federal Minister of the Interior, Gerhard Karner.

At the beginning of the meeting, the distinguished guests conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes from the Federal President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen.

The discussions focused on expanding practical cooperation between the two nations. The parties expressed satisfaction with the steady growth of engagement across various levels, noting that bilateral trade has tripled in recent years. Joint projects are currently underway in key sectors such as construction materials, mountain tourism, healthcare, the chemical industry, agriculture, and banking and finance.

The Intergovernmental Commission continues to operate effectively. During this visit, a successful joint business forum was held, culminating in the signing of significant agreements regarding labor migration, diplomatic service, and taxation. Cultural and educational exchanges also continue to flourish.

The two sides emphasized the importance of establishing a systematic high-level dialogue, further boosting trade volumes, and advancing joint ventures in priority areas. Regarding security cooperation, they highlighted the need for consistent information sharing to combat terrorism, human trafficking, drug smuggling, and cybercrime. The parties also exchanged views on pressing regional and international issues.
