Another fatal road accident has occurred in Navoi province. The crash took place at approximately 7:20 this morning on the A379 highway, in the section passing through Konimex district. A driver born in 2000, identified as Zh.N., lost control of a GM Nexia at a dangerous bend in the road and crossed into oncoming traffic, colliding with a truck driven by A.M., born in 1993.
As a result of the crash, Nexia driver Zh.N. and a passenger in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger in the Nexia - 21-year-old O.R. - sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the intensive care unit.
This is not the first such tragedy in the area. Earlier in Navoi, a Nexia driver caused the deaths of four people after illegally overtaking and colliding with a truck; fifteen days later, a crash between a Kia and a Chery claimed five more lives.
In the wake of these incidents, the local council issued a decision reducing the speed limit to 80 km/h on several stretches of the Navoi–Uchquduq international highway — specifically at kilometres 78–90, 104–107, 120–124, 135–144, 160–168, and 180–200.
