Bangladesh Embassy in Uzbekistan celebrated Bangla New Year 1433, what is popularly known as ‘Pahela Baishakh’ on 24 April 2026 at the Embassy premises. This was participated by a sizable audience, composed of Ambassadors/ diplomats from various countries, Senator, business elites, academicians well as media and cultural personalities of Uzbekistan.
In his welcome remarks, Bangladesh Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Dr. Mohammad Monirul Islam wished everyone a Happy Bangla New Year and highlighted the historical and cultural context and significance of this particular festival . Terming the occasion as an intregral part of Bangladesh’s cultural heritage, he articuled its underlying message of unity, solidarity, cohesion and compassion among the peoples, irrespective of their caste, creed, religion and ethnicity. He narrated the enduring friendship between the peoples of Bangladesh and Uzbekistan that is deeply rooted in their shared history, culture and tradition. He expressed hope for deeper collaboration between the two countries in the coming days, especially in the fields of business, education, culture, sports and tourism. Inspired by the spirit of Bangla New Year ( Pahela Baishakh), he called upon everyone to make their best efforts in promoting peace, progress, prosperity and stability across the globe.

An enthralling cultural show was staged with the performances of popular music and folk dances of Bangladesh, which was widely lauded by the participanting dignitaries. The national sport of Bangladesh, Ha-Du-Du ( Kabadi), played by the students of the University of Uzbekistan, added a new dimension to the joy of the event. The guests were also thrilled by a live demonstration of preparing some Bangladeshi popular culinary delicacies.

The celebration of Bangla New Year 1433 ended with entertaining the guests by traditional Bangladeshi cuisines like biryani and jilapi.
