Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the UAE, is set to launch regular Abu Dhabi to Tashkent flights starting August 17, the Ministry of Transport said.

The agreement was finalized during a meeting at the airline's headquarters between Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Transport, Jasurbek Choriyev, and Etihad Airways’ Chief Operating Officer, Captain Mohammad Al Bulooki. The two officials discussed the current state of aviation ties between Uzbekistan and the UAE, alongside future growth prospects, specifically focusing on the rollout of Etihad’s regular service and the gradual expansion of its route network.

The restoration of direct flights between the two capitals is expected to offer passengers seamless access to Etihad’s extensive global reach. Through Abu Dhabi, travelers will have convenient connections to over 70 international destinations across Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, and North America.

Etihad Airways originally received its permit to operate regular flights to Uzbekistan in October 2025, with plans to utilize Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. While the airline initially intended to launch a six-times-weekly service in March 2026, the official start date has now been set for August. This move follows the 2020 entry of Etihad’s subsidiary, Air Arabia, which has been operating twice-weekly flights on the same route since December of that year.
