The Khiva Criminal Court has fined a 25-year-old woman from the Surkhandarya province for kissing a historical sculpture.

According to case materials, the incident occurred on February 21 within the Itchan Kala State Museum-Reserve in Khiva. The woman kissed a monument dedicated to the masters of Khorezmian national musical arts, located near the Juma Mosque. She filmed the act and uploaded it as a "story" to her Instagram account.

In court, she admitted guilt, explaining that she was visiting Khiva as a tourist. Expressing remorse, she requested leniency, citing her pregnancy and family responsibilities.

The court classified her actions under Article 64-1, Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, which covers "disrespectful treatment of tangible cultural heritage." In determining the penalty, the judge took into account her confession, her repentance, her family status, and the fact that this was a first-time offense.

The woman was ordered to pay a fine of five basic calculation units (approximately 2.06 million soums). Under current regulations, a "prompt-payment discount" applies: the fine is reduced by 50% if paid within 15 days, or by 30% if paid within 30 days.
