The official launch ceremony of the American-Uzbek Business and Investment Council took place in Washington on Monday. The event was led by the Council’s co-chairs: Chief of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva and the U.S. Special Envoy for South and Central Asia Sergio Gor.
“This platform was established to bridge the gap between our nations’ entrepreneurs. The Council is designed to provide a robust institutional framework for our shared commercial ambitions. The meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding,” Saida Mirziyoyeva shared on her Telegram channel.
She further noted that the Council’s formation was a direct result of the high level of trust between the two presidents. Ambassador Sergio Gor echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that over the past year, the United States has demonstrated the sincerity of its commitment to deepening strategic partnerships across Central Asia through concrete actions.
In a post on X, Sergio Gor remarked that the inaugural launch marked the culmination of incredible progress in our partnership over the last few months through commercial diplomacy. Since President Trump hosted the November C5+1 leaders in D.C., Uzbekistan signed hundreds of millions of dollars worth of deals with U.S. companies.
Earlier in February, Saida Mirziyoyeva had stated on the Council’s inaugural working session alongside Sergio Gor. The groundwork for the Council was laid during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official visit to the United States from November 4–6 last year. Its primary mission is to expand and solidify mutually beneficial trade, investment, and commercial ties between the two nations, while fundamentally improving the business climate and providing institutional support for entrepreneurial initiatives.
