The State Security Service (DXX) has apprehended the director of a market in the Dehkanabad district of the Kashkadarya province while he was allegedly receiving a bribe of $6,600.

Reportedly, the director promised an entrepreneur that he could secure a shop on the market grounds—despite the property lacking the necessary documentation—and arrange for the legal title to be transferred into the businessman’s name. In exchange for this "service," the official demanded 80 million soums. The arrest was carried out during a sting operation, and a criminal case has since been opened.

This incident follows a similar case in early March in Karshi, where a market manager and an inspector were detained for attempting to illegally sell a storefront that was legally required to be auctioned. In that instance, the suspects reportedly demanded $80,000 to facilitate the transfer of a 110-square-meter commercial pavilion.
