Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov unveiled plans to launch satellite internet services during the Digital Qazaqstan 2026 international forum in Shymkent.

He emphasized that the integration of this new technology is key to bringing connectivity to the Uzbekistan’s most remote and geographically challenging regions.

“Over the past nine years, Uzbekistan has made remarkable strides: broadband coverage has surged from 41% to 99.5%, while network capacity has expanded fortyfold. We are now tackling the challenge of reaching our most isolated areas—a pilot launch for satellite internet is slated for this year, supported by a specialized tax incentive package for operators,” Aripov stated.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the completion of a massive computing cluster designed to anchor the nation’s artificial intelligence infrastructure.

In October 2025, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that satellite internet operators would begin operations in 2026 to ensure high-speed access in the hinterlands. To accelerate this rollout, these operators will benefit from a five-year exemption from land, property, income, and value-added taxes (VAT).

Uzbekistan has also been exploring potential satellite internet partnerships with Amazon.
