Bakhtiyor Islamov, the Chairman of the Supreme Court held a personal meeting with a man who climbed a tree in front of the Court on March 30th to protest a judicial ruling. This was confirmed on April 1st by Aziz Abidov, the Supreme Court's press secretary.
Earlier that day, reports surfaced on social media describing how a Tashkent resident took this drastic step to secure an audience with the court’s leadership. Images from the scene show the man holding a placard—the text of which remains illegible—as two uniformed officers in helmets and body armor approach him.
The Supreme Court’s statement clarified that the individual, 47-year-old A. Ch., was safely brought down before being received by Bakhtiyor Islamov. A formal grievance was filed and is set to be reviewed according to established legal protocols.
According to Abidov, A. Ch. was previously acquitted of high-level tax evasion by the Chilanzar District Criminal Court in October 2020. However, the same court sentenced him to seven years in prison for large-scale embezzlement and misappropriation. Higher courts subsequently upheld this verdict.
The Chairman had previously met with A. Ch. on November 29, 2025. At that time, it was explained to him that there were insufficient legal grounds to overturn the existing judicial rulings.
In his closing remarks, Aziz Abidov emphasized that while the right to judicial protection is a legal guarantee and individuals are free to petition the Supreme Court without restriction, they must do so through "established procedural channels," adding that "resorting to unconventional or dangerous actions is unnecessary."
