Tashkent is set to implement a pollution alert system via SMS, mass media, and digital platforms, as mandated by Clean Air project under the March 25 presidential decree.
When air quality worsens, the following steps will be triggered:
- Health Advisories: Children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses will be advised to stay indoors.
- Activity Limits: Restrictions on outdoor mass events and school activities.
- Workplace Flexibility: Adjustments to government office hours or transitions to remote work where necessary.
Across Uzbekistan, 347 automated air monitoring stations will be installed. For Tashkent and the surrounding areas specifically, five mobile analytical laboratories will be acquired. Furthermore, the "Uzbekcosmos" Agency will develop a satellite monitoring system to track green spaces, oxygen levels, illegal logging, pollutant emissions, and urban "heat islands." High-pollution areas will face strict emission quotas and mandatory reporting.
